The gold back splash is a great choice for kitchens. You can find it at most home improvement stores and online, but be sure you know how to install it properly, as there are some things you need to know before you do anything with it.
The first thing you need to know when you want to replace your current kitchen design is the size of the space. You will also have to decide on whether or not it will be wall-to-wall or window-to-window. If you want the wall-to-wall option, you will have to measure from floor to ceiling to figure out how much space you have available in your kitchen.
Once you have determined the amount of space you have, you will then need to measure your walls to make sure that the backsplash will fit around the walls. You will also want to measure the length of your freestanding cabinets and the height of the countertops to make sure your new backsplash will be perfectly placed.
Now you will need to get all the materials you need for the project. You will have to find a good set of pliers and an adjustable wrench not just any set. Pliers that are stainless steel are best for this job. The last thing you want is a pair of wire cutters that come with an electric nail stuck in it and endangering yourself while cutting through a wall.
To start, you will want to remove the kitchen wall tiles and any wallpaper that might be covering the tiles. There are usually a few easy steps you can do to get the tiles off of the wall, such as using an old dirty rag to get rid of the grime and scrubbing them with a soft brush to get the dirt off of them.
When you have removed all the tiles and wallpaper, you will then need to place the backsplash. This can be done with the help of some dowels or other small pieces of plywood. Be sure to line the plywood up so that your wall will fit well around it and that it is level.
You can use a wallpaper to fill in any gaps around the wall where you need to, but you need to make sure you leave a lot of room in between the wall paper and the new backsplash, otherwise you will have a gap that will allow air to flow through the wall and ruin the installation. and cause mold and mildew. Also, never cover the backplash with drywall, as you may have to reinstall the wallpaper if it gets stuck or leaks.
After you have done the back splash and you are satisfied with it, you can then put the new gold backsplash on top of the wall. Make sure that the new wall paper covers the area completely to ensure that there is no leak. If you use plywood, be sure to put the plywood between the paper and the wall.
If you choose, you can always add some wood trim to the back of the wall paper to make it look more authentic. The best choice of trim is to buy it at a hardware store or online and to install it by gluing or stapling it to the back of the wall.
If your walls are already finished, you might want to add a couple of coats of paint and to finish the job. Before you do, you should always test your backsplash on a hidden part of the wall. to make sure that the back splash looks good before you add paint.
You will then want to place the wall paper on the new backsplash and then let it dry before you reinstall the wall paper to the wall. Once the wallpaper is dry, paint it to match your other walls. You might want to consider sanding some of the edges of the wall paper to ensure that it does not show too much rust or wear.
After you have installed your backsplash, make sure that you read all the directions and tips carefully. It may take a few days before you can see results from it, but when you notice the difference it will be worth the wait. In about a week or two you will finally be happy with your beautiful new design.
